Tip the guide over Lightning
Keeping this independent — no ads, no affiliate hardware money, nothing to sell — is what lets it give you a straight answer. If it earned it, a tip in sats (the tiny units of Bitcoin), sent over the Lightning network, is welcome — and entirely optional.

Found this useful? Zap a few sats.
This guide sells nothing and takes no affiliate money — that independence is the whole point. If it helped you take custody of your own coins, an optional Lightning tip keeps it going. It pays into our own self-custodial node — no middleman holds the sats, which is exactly what this whole site is about.

Why a tip and not ads?
Almost every self-custody guide is bankrolled by a hardware brand, a custody service, or affiliate payouts — and it quietly bends the advice. We took the opposite bet: earn trust by having nothing to sell, and let readers who found it valuable chip in directly. A Lightning tip is on-brand in the most literal way — it’s self-custody in action.
Where the sats go
Straight into our own sovereign Lightning node — Bitcoin Core, our own channels, no custodian holding the balance. That’s the same setup this guide teaches you to run. No third party sits between your tip and us.
New to Lightning? Any modern wallet — Phoenix, Zeus, Wallet of Satoshi, Blink, Alby — can scan the code or send to the address above. Some of those are custodial: fine at tip size, not for savings.
