BIP-85: one seed to rule them all
Backing up many wallets means many seed phrases to protect — a lot to lose. BIP-85 fixes that: from one master seed, it derives an endless supply of fresh, fully independent child seeds, deterministically. Back up the master; re-derive any child on demand.
The master below is randomly generated in your browser and thrown away when you leave. Never type your real seed words anywhere. There's no seed input here on purpose.
Generate a throwaway master seed and watch it spawn independent child seeds.
Runs entirely in your browser · nothing is sent, saved, or logged.
The one master seed you back up
Each child below is a full, independent 12-word wallet seed — derived from the master, never stored:
Every number is a completely different, valid wallet — and the same number always gives the same words. That's the trick: back up one master, and child #5 (or #500) is always there to re-derive.
You only ever back up one seed — the master. Need a fresh wallet? Derive child #7. Lose a child's words? Re-derive them from the master. The children can't be linked back to the master or to each other, so each is a genuinely separate wallet. One backup, unlimited wallets.
